When you think of the difference just one volunteer can make, imagine the impact of thousands.
TELUS Day of Service (TDOS) actively engages team members, retirees, family and friends to volunteer at the activity of their choice to make positive, heartfelt and lasting connections within the community. TDOS is a key element in TELUS’ commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in which we strive to engrain the triple bottom line of sound economic, social and environmental sustainability practices into all aspects of our business.
To date, over 40,000 volunteers have given 122,000 hours and generously of their hearts, minds and hands over the last five years to help out in countless ways in our local communities. Here is a snapshot of how we collectively made a difference:
- 1,951 bags of waste collected from river valleys, parks, and fields
- 28,532 meals prepared or served to the homeless and those in need
- 568,650 pounds of food sorted at food banks
- 21,730 trees and plants planted in parks and gardens
- 37,056 Kits for Kids assembled to provide school supplies to students in inner city schools
- 123,850 mL of blood donated for Canadian Blood Services
- 231,474 breast cancer ribbons tied for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
In addition, volunteers pulled countless weeds, sorted donated clothing, washed cars, and answered thousands of donor calls at fundraising telethons.
